FREE FIRST TIME COMPUTER COURSES ON OFFER AT RAMSEY
Cambridgeshire County Council's Library Learning Service has joined forces with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Learning Partnership to organise free first-time computer course for people living in and around Ramsey.
The courses, being funded by EEDA through its Investing in Communities Project, are based at the Ramsey Community Information Centre.
The training offers people who are complete computer novices or maybe those who are self-taught and need to fill in gaps in their knowledge, the support, information and hands-on experience, they need to improve and develop their IT skills.
The course starts with the very basics - using the mouse and finding your way around the keyboard and on completion of the training people will be able to use a computer with Microsoft Windows, understand the Internet and use it safely and securely, use a web browser to view and use the world wide web and to send and receive e-mails.
The course takes about six hours in total, but the learning is geared around the individual's learning pace.
Also on offer is a complete 'Skills for Life package', where Learning Centre staff can help people check their maths and English skills, offer support for people who want to improve their reading, literacy or numeracy or work towards achieving nationally recognised qualifications.
Skills for Life courses are also free and again the learning is geared around the needs and capacity of the individual. Study can be carried out at the Community Information Centre, at home or at work.
For further information or to book a place on one of the courses, contact Naomh Campbell on 07920 534070.
